Fairytale Revised: The Princess Who Saw Everything

I love fairytales, but I’m not a huge fan of some themes (yes, yes we have a feminist here). The are two versions of this one that I have in my book collection. The first is in a Hungarian collection and the second is in a collection (‘princess stories’) that is a little different. The traditional Hungarian version has the king deciding on the challenge for the princess’ hand, and the second has the princess herself set the challenge. As much as I prefer the second it still brands the princess as prideful for not wanting to get married- something I’m not a huge fan of.
